The mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death.

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Dean Allan Wales who was born on May 3, 1982 and passed away on August 18, 2007. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

                 "PEACE AT LAST"

Sweetly we think of you with love , everyday.

Tenderly we dream of you and what we'd like to say.

We know that you are with us , even though your life has passed.

You walk with us , comfort us and let us know at last.

Your life was a difficult journey , along a bumpy trail.

 You tried your best to find the way , to let your goodness prevail.

It was with grief and sadness , that you took your life that day.

Now god has you in his keeping , and your pain has been washed away.

You found the peace you searched for , so desperatley in life.

At last your soul is comforted , from the demons that caused you such strife.

Although we miss you desperatley , and wish you didn't leave.

We had no power to stop you , and now must simply grieve.

We hear your voice in the wind , and feel your touch in the sun.

You speak to us in gentle ways , and we know your day has come !

Dean was always the joker and there was never a straight face when he was around , he bought light and love to all who he came into contact with !

A true gentlemen when it came to the ladies , always a giver and rarely asking for anything in return , he would give you his last penny.

As read at his service by Dean's Loving sister Kim -

Dean was born in Hughenden on the 3rd of may 1982, the youngest of 4 children to mum & dad ( Joy & Allan ).He was mum's baby , he loved his mum and she loved him back & always will.He adored his brother Shane , his sisters Kim & Kellie , loved being uncle Dean to their children and had a great relationship with his brother-in-laws Jeff & Kim.

He started primary school at the Hughenden State School then switched across to the St Francis Catholic Primary School and then Back to Hughenden high School to finish off his schooling.He then completed 2 years at Clare Agricultural College.

He loved to play football in both Primary & High School and represented Hughenden in the QLD Secondary Schools Rugby League State 15 years Championships in 1997.His other love in sports was Rodeo and he wanted to be just like his big brother Shane , because he was so proud of what shane had achieved on the Rodeo circiut.He love to practice roping with Allistair Anderson , Clancy Middleton & Ron Purse.

At the age of 11 , he decided he wanted to become a butcher, he annoyed Herbie Wright at the Flinders Butchery that much that in the end Herbie end up employing him working on a Saturday.

He also loved his work on the land and was a true bushie at heart , he worked with dad fencing and then traveled North QLD working on various properties and made plenty of mates wherever he went.

When he was home there was alway a constant stream of 4x4's and mates coming to visit even if he was only home for a short time.He always loved coming back to Hughenden because Hughenden was where he called HOME.

He was always willing to help anyone, and in his short life he touched so many people in many different ways whether it was to lend money if they were broke or needed a bed for the night.

He was a larrikin at heart and enjoyed a beer , a party and loved to be with his mates, having and cracking a joke.

Shane . Jenny , Kevin , David & Tamekia Reid were like his second family and this what they wrote for him -

"Dippy ( that was their special name for him ) you made us laugh , there was never a dull moment around when you were with us.You were like a big brother to us"

I am sure Dean would have liked to have been remembered as a happy go lucky person , always out for a good time no matter where he was or who he was with.He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

You have been gone 11 years I will always remember the last time I saw you. I will never forget the last memories I had with you.

I first met Dean 4 years ago when I was working at Gregory Springs and Dean was working with the Reid’s on Pretty Plains next door. Being new to the area and not knowing many people my own age I jumped at the chance when Dean and Kevin Reid asked me to go shooting with them one night. I had just met Dean however he seemed like the sort of fella who was really easy to get on with. We had a great night with lots of laughs. And that is how a great friendship and many memories began. One memory that really sticks out in my mind is the night that Dean and Kevin decided to take 10 years off my life. Dean, Kevin and I had gone out roo shooting one night in 2004. Dean had just shot a roo and Kevin had jumped out to find it. I was deep in conversation with Dean so I didn’t see Kevin find and catch the Joey that had belonged to the now dead roo. Dean however had been watching Kevin and managed to keep a straight face and decided not to tell me about it. Kevin then threw the Joey through the window at me. I was halfway over Deans’ lap and out the other window when Dean started killing himself laughing at me. I can assure you Dean never let me live that one down. Dean was such a generous, kind and caring man who gave the best bear hugs. I keep expecting to get a txt or phone call from him just to catch up. I’ll miss you Deano mate.

For those of you who don't know. I am a country music singer and I have always liked writing funny songs. While working with deano out at Lorraine Station, I did alot of that. When we would be out mustering, I would start singing any old song out of the blue and I would change the words to make it funny, but if I got stuck and couldn't think of any words... deano would always be there to help, and what really sucked was that he was better at rhyming words to a song than what I was!!! And it was always funny...

Deano taught me alot when I was working with him and I will never forget him.

We'll always miss him! xoxoxoxoxoxo   *~Mitch~*

                               ~~~~~A Romantic Memory ~~~~~
I will never forget the night Dean told me he loved me for the first time.....I knew he had someting to tell me and i kept asking him , "what was wrong" , but he would insist that all was fine , so after asking several times , he lifted my head up so that we'd be looking eye to eye and he said to me " I LOVE YOU AND ALWAY HAVE " .... That was at Wrothem Park near Chillagoe in the donga you see to the left in the picture ! He was more of a romantic then i could have ever imagined.
